Good Evening Parents, Professors, and Scholars,
We at Rhodes are very excited to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 school year! Our theme this year is “Full STEAM Ahead” and we look forward to all the ways we can partner with parents, Scholars, and the community this coming year as we engage our Scholars in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math!
Now is a great time to apply for free and reduced price meals at Rhodes. The state of California is currently covering the cost of meals through the Universal Meals Program. However, with budget uncertainties, we cannot say for sure how long that program will last. If you qualify for free or reduced price meals, it will automatically update in your child’s account and will be entirely confidential. In addition, the State of California has launched the California Kids and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS), a statewide initiative that provides eligible low-income public school students with a college savings account. All students identified as low-income through the Free and Reduced Price meal program will automatically have an account created; parents and students will be able to access the account by registering online at https://calkids.org. If you think your child may be eligible, I encourage you to submit an application on the district's Nutrition Services website. Eligibility is determined on Fall Academic Census day, usually the first week of October, so please submit your application as soon as possible!
If you have completed the data confirmation process in Aeries Parent Portal, you will be able to see the name of your child’s professor starting at approximately 4:00pm on Thursday, August 3. If you have not completed data confirmation, when you log into the app it will require you to do that before seeing the name of the professor. I encourage you to use the full site, not the mobile app to make data confirmation go more quickly!! Link: https://aeriesweb.chino.k12.ca.us/Parent/LoginParent.aspx
On the morning of Friday, August 4, you will be able to meet your child’s professor at their classroom door between 8:00 and 9:00am. There will be plenty of guides and signage on campus to point you in the right direction! Our Professors are very excited to meet their new Scholars!
The first day of school is Monday, August 7. We will allow families to walk their child to the classroom on Monday and Tuesday, leaving as the bell rings. Beginning on Wednesday, parents will no longer be allowed through the gates with their child before school.
I look forward to seeing each of you this school year! At Rhodes we are committed to children, committed to community and committed to excellence. Have a wonderful evening!
