Bulldog Bulletin Nov. 6-10
**We will be extending these spelling and vocabulary lists to two weeks. Our tests on both spelling and vocabulary will be on Friday, 11/17.
ELA: In English Language Arts this week, we will continue Unit 2: Animal Discoveries. This week we will focus on soft c and soft g sounds in phonics and spelling. We will read a narrative nonfiction story called. "Turtle, Turtle." In this story we will focus on identifying the main topic and key details. We will continue to learn about the suffixes -ly and -ful. We will identify and use common and proper nouns and use capital letters with proper nouns.
Vocabulary: Please study the vocabulary words and definitions daily. Students need to know how to use the vocabulary word in a sentence (in context). There will be a test in using the words in context on Friday, 11/17.
Spelling: Our spelling pattern is soft c and soft g. Students will choose 1 spelling activity this week from the spelling menus found in the plastic cover inside your Rhodes folder. These activities will be due on Thursday. Some of the activities are not written activities. If you choose one of these types of activities, you must write the activity you completed and have a parent sign it in your agenda. TEST Friday, 11/17.
Math: In Math we will finish Topic 7: Mental Subtraction. Students will learn to subtract 10's and find parts of 100 (example 72+ __=100). Students will also learn how to subtract on a hundred chart and subtract multiples of 10. TEST on Tuesday, 11/7.
Social Studies: We will begin our unit on Landforms. In this unit, students will learn about maps and the land and places around us. Students will identify different kinds of land and bodies of water. Students will also demonstrate map skills by labeling a map of North America with countries and bodies of water.
PE: UPDATE>> We will have PE on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Be sure to have your child wear appropriate shoes for exercising and running.
Georgia Bulldogs, let's plan ahead to wear our Rhodes spirit wear on Fridays! Let's earn a puppy for our classroom!

Collecting Pop TopsRhodes students are collecting the pull top rings that are on aluminum can drinks. Pull off the top ring of your soda cans and send them in to school. When we save these, it raises funds for people with sick children to stay at the Ronald McDonald house near the hospital in Los Angeles. This enables parents to be nearby their children receiving treatment in the hospital. It's a very worthy cause, and I would like to have our students bring in as many as they can. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Thank you!
