Communication
The best way to reach me is via email at sierra_hale@chino.k12.ca.us
In the event that you are unable to send me an email, I can be reached through the Remind app. Download the app and use the code @dk78d98 to join my class. Please note that I will respond as soon as possible within the hours of 7:30am-4pm Monday through Friday.
Teacher commitments
I have been teaching for 9 years. I have a master's degree, a GATE certifcation, and am in the process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. I take great pride and fulfillment in my work and strive to be the best teacher I can be, so that my students can be their best too. You can expect the following professional commitments from me:
- Communicating expectations and assignments clearly and answer student and parent questions and concerns as soon as possible.
- Providing clear and effective rubrics with every graded assignment.
- Intervening on students' behalf when the class environment, instruction or other factors limit full learning potential.
Student expectations
- Put your best effort into everything you do. Nothing worth having comes easily.
- Embrace the stages of learning—everybody is at a different stage of life and may experience learning differently.
- Ask for help when necessary. Cheating, lying, and plagiarism are signs to me that you don't understand the material and are afraid to admit it.
Assignments
You can expect one main assignment each week, given on Monday and due on Friday, via Google Classroom. Additional assignments may be given for participation points but may not be graded/used to measure achievement or ability.
Additional apps that you will need to be familiar with and can be found on Classlink:
MyHRW (digital textbook)
Flipgrid
EdPuzzle
Kahoot
CommonLit
Feedback
For each graded assignment in Google Classroom, you will receive a comment explaining the grade. Sometimes, this feedback will have a suggestion or ask you to fix something and resubmit the assignment. It is important that you read the feedback and respond if necessary.
Grades
Grades will be updated weekly in Aeries. Additionally, you will see points given in Google Classroom. The assignment status in Google Classroom is accurate, but the overall grade is more accurate in Aeries.
