Ayala Girls Golf at Ayala High School is on the move again! The upcoming 2023 season will be another exciting time, as the girls return to defend their 2022 Palomares League Championship. With a good crop of returners, including a few CIF post-season participants.
The COVID-19 pandemic conditions, the CIF and our League have moved this season. Both the GIRLS and BOYS seasons were played simultaneously in March of 2021.
Congratulations to the 2019 Ayala Girls Golf Team for making the CIF Team playoffs. The team returned to the CIF Divisional Championships after a one year hiatus, making it 13 out of the last 15 years to the CIF playoff stage.
Since our Inaugural season in 2005, our Girls Golf Teams have been very successful, earning a CIF Runner-Up in 2006, and a CIF Divisional Championship in 2007, playing in the State Regional tournament 3 times. Our girls have also been pretty good on the Individual stage, making it to the State Tournament as well.
Our Alumni have played for the following colleges/universities since our Inaugural season in 2005: University of Irvine - Joy Trotter (2007), Cal State Fullerton - Neomi Hunt & Kristen Aiu (2008), Mt. San Antonio - Erin Grotefend (2009), Taylor Moore (2010), Columbia University - Sarah Jeon (2014), UC Davis - Kelly Lee (2015), Mt. San Antonio - Allie & Kendall Montero (2015).
In addition, Kelly Lee tied an Individual School record by not only making it to the CIF Individual Finals (and Southern California WSCGA State Championship Qualifier at Western Hills CC, coming in 19th place), she also advanced to the CIF State Tournament, ending her bid for a State Championship at the Southern Regional tournament at Goose Creek Golf Course, shooting a 5-over 76 with only 5-bogies.
Now we have our new goals to achieve this year. We have some very motivated players, and a chance to compete on Los Serranos' North Course for another CIF Team Divisional Championship. We welcome our newest crop of Freshmen Girl Golfers!!!
With lots of off-season practice, our 2020 Team members will be prepared for another great season ...Good Luck Girls!!
