    The University of Oklahoma was founded in 1890.  The crimson and cream Sooners compete in the Big 12 NCAA division I and are known for their football, gymnastics, softball and baseball programs.   The undergraduate students number 21,000 with 170 majors available.  A unique program is the Native American language program where you can learn Creek, Choctaw and Cherokee.  Freshmen live on campus in one of five residence halls.  They have a French bakery, smokehouse, Greek restaurant, and all-you-can-eat Chick Fil A.  For more info go to www.ou.edu.



    This Friday, April 19th there is no school. 


    Students in CVUSD’s Class of 2019 are invited to complete an application for one of four scholarships available through the District. Applications are due by NOON on May 10, 2019 to the student’s high school principal’s office. The scholarships are: Spirit of the Chino Valley Unified School District—to a student who has volunteered, served in a student leadership role, participated in school activities that promote good citizenship, and has an outstanding attendance record. President’s Award—to a student with financial need for college. Superintendent’s Award—to a student who earned an overall grade point average of 3.8 or higher. Go to www.chino.k12.ca.us to download the application. 


    Club officers and advisors!  There is a special meeting to talk about next year’s activities on campus.  We are having a “calendar signing party” to get everyone on board for club meeting dates, fundraisers and other events.  Please come to room 73 on April 25 at 2:30.  You should have next year’s officers plan on attending as this is mandatory.  New paperwork for club authorization will be handed out at this meeting. 


    Seniors: We just wanted to remind you that your student district email accounts will expire 30 days after graduation. If you have any accounts, such as college board or university emails attached to your current district student email please be sure to update these in order to continue to have access.  



    All Sports Boosters Scholarship applications are available for pickup in the athletics office with Mary and are due no later than April 18!  Scholar athletes please apply! 



    Prom is right around the corner!  The Class of 2020 cordially invites you to the Springfield Banquet Center in Fullerton, CA.  Come dance the night away in this historic venue!  Prom contracts are available in the ASB office. Get excited!  Tickets are on sale now!!!!!  From April 8 through April 18 the price is $80 with ASB cards and $90 for non ASB or off campus guests.  From April 22-26 the ticket is $100 each-no discounts!  Buy early and get ready for an ENCHANTED EVENING!


    Juniors and Seniors!  Make sure you pick up the Friar Tux coupons when you buy tickets.  Use the code and Don Lugo will earn money back.


    Senior News!  Listen up Class of 2019! Who is ready for graduation?  Graduation tickets are on sale TODAY Monday, April 15.  Tickets are $10 each and can be bought at the student store.  They are non-refundable so make sure you buy the correct amount.  Don Lugo High School is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. 



    Attention seniors, if you have not started your Mt. Sac, Chaffey, or fafsa applications, you must stop by the career center to be placed on the early application list. The KP internship applications are here…juniors and seniors only…stop by the career center immediately.  Application deadline is April 19th!

    Cal Poly has a variety of summer programs.  Stop by room 104 for more information.


    The Kedron Veliz Simon Memorial Scholarship application is available now.  This is a $500 scholarship that will be awarded to a Don Lugo senior who plans to pursue a college degree.  Applications are available in the counseling office and are due April 26 to Mrs. Jensen-Ward.


    The Career Center has upcoming presentations for local trade schools and colleges offering a variety of programs.  To get more information for any of these new items just go to the Career center!



    All students must carry their student id at all times and be able to show it to any staff member while on campus and at all school events. If not, you may be given a detention. The cost for replacement is $5. All students must be appropriately dressed for school each day. ONLY Don Lugo head gear is allowed. Dress Code will be strictly enforced. All students need to be here on time every day. The bell rings at 7:25 and the tardy bell at 7:30.  

    Attention All Students…Please be reminded that all gates will be closed in the morning when the tardy bell rings. All students, including students with no period 1 classes will have to enter through the front office if you do not arrive on time.  

    Students… EVERYONE parking on campus must have a permit, including staff.   Citations will be given to those that don't have a permit.
