Excellence is what I think of when I hear the words Cal Aero Preserve Academy. I am Patricia Vega-Jeter, one of three Assistant Principals at Cal Aero.
I have a rich and varied experience in the field of education. I taught first through eighth grades with the bulk of my teaching in upper elementary and middle school. Teaching is still my favorite thing to do! Most recently, I served as an Instructional Coach and EL Coordinator at Richard. L Graves Middle School in South Whittier. I enjoy building relationships with students, teachers, and parents in order to ensure success for all students.
I am a product of public schools. I attended Head Start through grade eight in the Garvey School District and then graduated from Mark Keppel HS, part of Alhambra Unified. At the university level, I did my undergraduate studies at UC Irvine and then graduate schools at UC Los Angeles MA, and CSULA, Teaching Credential. I received my second Master’s in Education Administration & an Administrative Credential from Concordia University. The public education system is a valuable resource for our children and I am excited that I can serve the Cal Aero community as a public servant that positively impacts students.
Additionally, I believe all children have a unique set of talents and gifts that must be nurtured and cultivated in the classroom. Therefore, it is our duty as educators to create a safe and engaging learning environment so our students can grow cognitively and socially, and to ensure they reach their full potential. Of course, parents play an intricate part in the academic and emotional development of their child. Therefore, it is vital that the school and parents work together to help Cal Aero scholars achieve success. I look forward to working with parents to make this happen.
On a different note, I grew up in South San Gabriel with five brothers and one sister. My dad passed away when I was in 5th grade and my mom continued to raise us alone. We definitely had our struggles as a family, but we all also learned resilience and determination. I am still close with all my siblings and my mom, who are among my biggest supporters! Today I have my own family of six, my husband, and four daughters. Family is important to me and I spend most of my time off with them.
Sincerely,
Patricia Vega-Jeter
