Don Bridge was elected to the Board of Education in November 2020. Don retired from Chino Valley USD in 2014 after a 33-year career as a teacher at Don Antonio Lugo and Ruben Ayala High Schools. Following retirement, he was appointed as an at-large member to the school District’s Measure G Bond Citizens Oversight Committee serving from 2017-2020.
Don also served in several education and teacher leadership positions including Liaison to the State Board of Education in Sacramento (7 years); President, Associated Chino Teachers (4 years); Board of Directors, California Teachers Association (9 years); Teacher representative, California Education Coalition for Health Care Reform (7 years).
A native of San Bernardino County, Don graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto. He earned a B.A. in Social Science from Cal State University, San Bernardino and a Master’s in Education at Cal Poly University, Pomona. Don holds lifetime teaching credentials in Single Subject, Social Science and Learning Handicapped with a Resource Specialist Certificate.
Don has resided in the District since 1981 and moved to Chino Hills in 1992 with his wife Jan, who also retired as an elementary and junior high teacher in Chino Valley USD after 30 years. They have two children, son Steven and daughter Melanie, who attended schools in the District and are graduates of Ayala High School. Don and Jan also have one granddaughter.
