REMINDER: New School Start Times for 22/23 School Year

Dear CVUSD Community,

Earlier this year, the District completed a survey that collected input from CVUSD parents, students, and staff regarding new start times for the 2022/2023 school year. As you may recall, new start times were prompted by Governor Newsom adopting Senate Bill (SB) 328, which requires junior high schools begin class no earlier than 8:00 a.m., and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m.

Based on survey results, the Board of Education approved Option E during its February 3, 2022, regular meeting. To provide CVUSD families the opportunity to coordinate their drop-off and pick-up routines accordingly, I would like to remind you of the approved school start times for the 2022/2023 school year:

Elementary Schools: 7:50 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Junior High Schools: 9:12 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.

High Schools: 8:35 a.m. – 3:22 p.m.

In February, each school principal provided their community with a letter that outlined specific details for their campus, including early dismissal or late start schedules. That letter and new bell schedule have been posted to your school website for easy reference. If you have any questions regarding your student’s new start time, please contact their school’s front office.

Schools not effected by new start times, but will still be in compliance with state requirements, include Cal Aero Preserve Academy, Lyle S. Briggs K-8, and Buena Vista Continuation High School.

Thank you for your partnership in selecting new school start times. The new bell schedule will take effect July 1, 2022, for the 2022/2023 school year.

Sincerely,

 Norm Enfield, Ed.D.
 Superintendent
