It's not an easy or comfortable subject to discuss, but as of 2017, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-34 in the US. Dr. Dianne Vargas, Assistant Professor Counseling Education at CSU Stanislaus in northern California, led the discussion that focused on suicide among our youth and what the community can do to assist those in need of help. Forum attendees were invited to participate in a Q & A session at the end of the presentation and find assistance on how to combat this increasing danger that claims the lives of 44,965 Americans every year.
A second session is available to parents and guardians in the spring. To view Dr. Vargas's powerpoint presentation, click HERE.
