Three of six Cal Aero teams that completed at the 2019 Regionals traveled to Sunnyvale Christian School in Sunnyvale, CA to compete in the 2019 World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) National Championship. Students were given the task of building a robot that could act as a real autonomous, self-driving taxi that took passengers from a starting position to a target area. Working in teams, students followed specific competition guidelines to design their robot and competed in three two-minute rounds where their robot had to complete the given task. When all was said and done our Cal Aero Aviators had a lot to be proud of. Out of all teams that participated the 6th grade Jahbots team captured 47th place, 7th grade Firecrackers 24th place, and 8th grade I'm a Ganome 42nd place!
The Cal Aero robotics club is a parent funded program where all 5th-8th grade students are welcomed to join. Do you have an Aviator that enjoys data coding and problem solving and would like to join? Students meet every Thursday after school in Ms. Panduro's classroom. Thank you to Engineering for Kids for providing all class and competition materials!
