AHS Engineering and Architecture Program Awarded Golden Bell Award!
Congratulations to Mr. Collins and his Ayala High School Engineering and Architecture students for receiving the Golden Bell Award during its 43rd year! Presented by the California School Boards Association (CBSA), the Golden Bell reflects the depth and breadth of education programs and governance decisions supporting students’ changing needs. Receiving recognition under the Career Technical Education category, the Ayala HS Engineering and Architecture program was one of eight winners out of 16 possible candidates.
After submitting a robust application that fulfilled the program rubric, each submitted application was reviewed by a panel of 48 judges that included school district and county offices of education representatives. Receiving the recommendation of the panel, Mr. Eric Swanson, Board Clerk for the Hesperia Unified School District, visited Ayala High School and the Engineering and Architecture classroom to validate the program and data listed in its Golden Bell application. The visit to campus included an observation component where Mr. Swanson watched and engaged with students, and a confirmation element that consisted of a Q & A session.
Ring-a-ding-ding! With Mr. Swanson’s confirmation, Ayala High School is now a recipient of the 2022 Golden Bell Award for Career Technical Education! But that’s not all. Mr. Collins, the program’s advisor, has also been awarded the National Society of High School Scholars’ Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award! Nominated by a pupil, the award recognizes educators who have made a significant contribution to students’ academic careers by displaying a genuine dedication and commitment to excellence in their profession. Congratulations, Mr. Collins for leading our Bulldog’s to the Golden Bell Award and being named an honoree for the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction Award!
