33 CVUSD Sites Recognized as 2023 PBIS Recipients!

Congratulations to CVUSD administrators and staff for your diligent commitment to providing students with multi-tiered frameworks that improve academics, reduce problem behaviors, increase attendance, reduce bullying, and improve social and emotional competency!

Since its first statewide campaign in 2015, California PBIS has been utilizing evidence-based, culturally relevant practices to build the capacity to develop a safe, equitable, and positive climate and social culture for all.

To achieve recognition, CVUSD schools engaged multiple stakeholders including teachers, community members, families, and students in continuous feedback to ensure that every voice was heard and given opportunities to participate in the PBIS process.

Last year, the District celebrated its first school to receive PLATINUM recognition. This year, the District has increased that number to 10! By showing evidence of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 advanced interventions that support students, six elementary, two junior high, one K-8, and one high schools have been awarded the highest recognition through the PBIS program!

Cheers to the twenty-two CVUSD schools that received GOLD recognition this year! To receive GOLD recognition, a school’s prevention strategies are closely assessed. These strategies include teaching and modeling school-wide expectations and establishing and maintaining a system for recognizing appropriate behavior and restorative approaches that correct behaviors.

Finally, one CVUSD school earned SILVER recognition by showing evidence of positive student outcomes through school-wide prevention strategies that include the teaching and acknowledging of school-wide expectations, a system of acknowledging appropriate behavior, and classroom strategies that focus on preventing misbehavior and promoting safe, inclusive environments.

Congratulations to all school sites that earned a PBIS award this year! The increased number of schools earning a platinum, gold or silver recognition demonstrates how focused and committed CVUSD schools are to promoting and maintaining positive behavioral strategies on campus!
