The highest ranked U.S. public schools in U.S. News & World Report's 2023-2024 Best High Schools Rankings are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores in an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.”
Weighing scores across six indicators of school quality, U.S. News & World Report ranked approximately 17,680 public high schools out of nearly 25,000 reviewed that have a 12th grade enrollment of 15 students or greater. The six indicators used in the program’s methodology include college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.
