Girls Flag Football Programs Kicks Off at CVUSD!
The District is excited to announce the inclusion of girls flag football into its high school athletic programs! Following the California Interscholastic Federation’s (CIF) unanimous vote to add flag football as an official CIF sport for female athletes, the District worked with high school athletic directors to debut competition this school year. Female athletes can now huddle up, blitz, and sling a football in competitive play.
Not only has the launch of girls flag football generated buzz and excitement amongst our students who are ready to showcase their speed, agility, and passion, but it has also given way to fantastic opportunities for our young athletes. In preparation for the season, Don Lugo players were able to attend a flag football clinic hosted by the Los Angeles Rams!
As neighboring districts prepare and mobilize their programs, CVUSD high schools will play this season against each other before moving into their prospective leagues next school year. Coaches, students, and fans are optimistic the programs will continue to grow and build upon the lessons learned this school year with the hope of building a solid foundation so future generations can enjoy a game that is growing in popularity across the state.
Cheers to an exciting season!
