Meet Your Professor
University of Washington Home Base/IS Parents:
Welcome back to school Home Base/IS Husky parents! While we may be beginning this year differently than past years, I am extremely excited to meet this year’s recruits. I’m looking forward to working with you and my young scholars to ensure a rigorous, productive, and fun year given whatever circumstances we may encounter.
Let me begin by sharing a little information about myself. My name is Mike Wendling, and I began my teaching career over 30 years ago. I have taught every grade level from 3rd to 9th, and I'm thrilled to once again be working with the 4th through 6th grade team! My experience at Rolling Ridge, Country Springs and Rhodes have been the most enjoyable to me because each of their philosophies incorporates multiple intelligences and the belief that all students are gifted in some way. Our challenge as teachers is to encourage and inspire our students to find their gifts.
We will meet online daily Monday through Friday every morning from 11:00 -11:30. Be sure to check your Google classroom for communication and updates regarding our class. All work will currently be done through Acellus, but we are transitioning to EdGenuity in mid September. More info to follow as we get closer to our implementation date.
I have always maintained an “open door policy” for both parents and students, but communication will be more important this year than ever before. Emailing me is a great way to let me know your questions/concerns. I keep my website updated on a regular basis. I will usually communicate short immediate messages through Remind, but I will also use email so be sure your information is correct and up-to-date in Aeries. My Remind is set up for 2-way communication, so once you have added yourself to my Remind, you may also reach me that way. Our classroom also has an Instagram account, @AEC--Huskies, where I post pictures and happenings for both my Huskies and our Scholars. Our Google Classroom code is 6q2qd2h.
I am looking forward to a productive year with this group of Huskies. If you ever have questions/concerns, please let me know.
