Community Facilities District (CFD)
The Chino Valley Unified School District utilizes Community Facilities Districts (CFD) to finance, modernize, and/or construct school facilities. Under State law, school districts are authorized to charge school fees on new development to pay for the acquisition, construction, and/or refurbishment of school facilities. CFDs are formed at the request of developers to finance their school fee obligation rather than paying the school fees up front. This cost is then passed on to the property owners through the CFD. Property owners in Chino Valley Unified School District CFD are taxed annually for their share of the school facilities as calculated at the time of the formation of the CFD. Proceeds from the taxes are used to repay the debt which financed, modernized, or constructed the school facilities that serve the homes within the CFD.
