School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA)

What is a School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)?

The School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is a school's roadmap for helping all students succeed. The plan identifies areas where students are doing well and areas where additional support is needed. It outlines the goals, strategies, and resources the school will use to improve student learning and achievement.

What's Included in the SPSA?

The plan typically includes:

  • Student Data Review: Information about student achievement, attendance, and school climate to help identify areas for improvement.

  • School Goals: Clear goals focused on student academic success and overall well-being.

  • Strategies and Support: Specific programs, services, and instructional practices designed to help students meet those goals.

  • Funding: Details about how state and federal funds will be used to support student achievement.

  • Staff Training: Professional development opportunities that help teachers and staff better support students.

  • Family Engagement: Plans for involving parents and keeping families informed about student progress and school initiatives.

Who Creates the SPSA?

The SPSA is a colaborative effort and is developed each year by the School Site Council (SSC) that consists of parents, teachers, school staff, administrators, and sometimes students. The Council reviews school data, sets goals, and recommends how funding should be used to support student success.

Once the SSC approves the plan, it is submitted to the school district's governing board for final approval.

How Does the SPSA Connect to District Goals?

Each school's SPSA aligns with the district's overall goals and priorities to ensure that efforts across all schools work together to support student success.
