Who is Mrs. McConnell??Hello, everyone! My name is Kristin McConnell. I have been teaching for 18 years and have taught all elementary grades. I love working with children, seeing the eagerness in their faces as they strive to learn something new; the wonder in their eyes and they discover; the willingness to persevere when the work becomes difficult. These are why I love my work with children.Personally, I am married and have two children, one of whom attends Hidden Trails, as well. The other is a sophomore at Ayala. I live locally and you may see myself and my children walking from place to place. No, my car isn't broken down. I choose to walk because Chino Hills is beautiful! I walk because it's great for my health. Finally, I walk because I love being outdoors and away from the constant hum of machines as often as I can be. On the weekends, you may even see me walking the Eucalyptus Loop trail at Community Park. I grew up in nearby Rowland Heights. When I lived there, I walked everywhere and I loved it.You may also already know that my hobby is Irish Dancing. I am part of a community company called Irish Dimensions Dance Company. We are based in Upland. On the weekends, and occasionally during the evenings during the week, my children and I perform with our company alll over: senior communities, theme parks, parades, festivals, and sometimes, even on TV. Our company is very well known in Upland and we are proud to be dancers. At school, I love to smile and laugh. I am ecstatic to be back in upper grade and I am excited that I get to teach math this year! Math is one of my favorite subjects to teach, mainly because I struggled with it so much in school. Because of my struggle, I feel that I can help students understsand the concepts.I am very happy to be your child's teacher this year. Please don't be a stranger! Come say hello, volunteer, come to field trips with us.Join Dojo and email me often--epsecially if you have questions or concerns. Sixth grade will be a fun and educational year for your child.Have a fantastic summer!Sincerely,Mrs. McConnell7/10/18
I wanted to remind everyone briefly about the paper I sent home on Friday. Please return it signed, or your child will not be allowed outdoors during the eclipse.
The new homework page will come home on Monday. Please look it over, but do not remove it from their green folder. If I need to change something, I'll need the kids to have it ready to write on.
Back to School Night will be on August 30 at 6:00 PM. This night will be when I get to tell you all about second grade: our goals and expectations. It will also be a time when you can ask me any questions you may have. Please plan to come. I look forward to meeting you all.
