    Lyle S. Briggs' GATE Program

The Chino Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) is committed to educational programs that recognize and serve students’ diverse needs and talents.  The purpose of  our Gifted and Talented Education Program (GATE)  is to provide a stimulation environment with opportunities for capable students to achieve their highest potential.  GATE identified students in graders 2nd-6th are placed in a GATE Cluster class at their grade level.  All GATE students are expected to master the State Curriculum Standards, but the curriculum will be differentiated to provide challenging activities for them.  Seventh – 8th grade GATE students are placed in GATE/HONOR classes for English Language Arts and Social Studies.  There are no GATE classes for Math and Science.  However, all teachers are required to provide enrichment activities for GATE students.

California Association for the Gifted (CAG)

As a parent of a gifted student are you a member of California Association for the Gifted (CAG)?  CAG is an organization of educators and parents dedicated to meeting the unique needs of gifted and talented students. CAG was started in 1966 by a group of educators and parents who wanted to make a difference in the lives of gifted students. CAG is one of the nation’s largest state advocacy groups of its kind, providing its members information and training about the education of gifted and talented students. Becoming a Member of California Association for the Gifted Gives You a Voice! Parents and educators in CAG have been the principal supporters of gifted learners in California since 1966. The program benefits that gifted children enjoy today are a direct result of that support.  CAG is involved at the local, state, national, and international levels, implementing research-based training in differentiation and advocating to help ensure that the academic and affective needs of gifted learners are met. Examples include:

    Annual CAG Conference
    Summer Institute
    Teacher and Parent Institutes
    Regional Events and Conferences
