Classroom Expectations for All Classes
Assignments
All assignments will be posted via Google classroom. Students have the option of completing the assignments via Google Classroom or via a hard copy.
Homework
Weekly homework will be detailed in Google Classroom. Do your work and turn it in when it is due. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain absent work, instructions, agenda, and arrange for make-up tests.
Late Work
Students will have two days for each excused absence day to turn in assignments with no penalty. All other late work will be accepted at teacher discretion.
Test Make-ups and Re-takes
Test make-ups and re-takes will be allowed at teacher discretion, on a case by case basis.
Grading
Grades include classwork, homework, and assessments. According to CVUSD District policy, grades are based on the following:
60% assessments, essays, and final projects
40% classwork and homework
*Grades can be checked online at your convenience through Aeries Portal.
Plagiarism/Cheating
Plagiarism is passing off the ideas of others as your own. If you use anyone's exact words without giving credit, you are stealing from them. However, you also commit plagiarism if you use someone’s ideas in a paraphrase without giving credit. Students will learn throughout the course of the school year how to cite sources and how to paraphrase correctly. Cheating will never be tolerated. All assignments will be checked for originality, and students who plagiarize or cheat will receive a zero for the assignment.
Classroom Community
We believe that teachers, parents, and students alike have one goal in common—the best education possible for all students. If students will remember three simple words and put them into practice throughout the year, they will most certainly achieve this goal— RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and SAFETY.
If students show respect at all times to all people, then they will be known for good citizenship and won’t have to worry about behavioral consequences. If students show responsibility at all times, then they will receive good academic grades. They will be on time to class, prepared with all required materials and assignments. They will also take responsibility for the choices that they make, whether the consequences are good or bad. Each student is accountable in ensuring he/she makes wise choices in supporting his/her education. It is expected that:
- All Students will be respectful of others at all times.
- All students will show responsibility and work to their greatest potential at all times.
- All Students will follow the SAFETY guidelines as found in the School Wide Expectations.
- All students will turn in their assignments on time.
- All students will adhere to all school-wide expectations as found in the Student Handbook.
