This is what we will be working on in class when students return from spring break. Please make sure their books are read by then so we can get started right away.
- SYMBOLS- In the 4 corners of the page draw an important symbol or object that represent the person they studied. (flower, car, running shoe, light bulb etc.) Label it if the drawing is not clear.
- TIMELINE- In the border space around the outside, I divided each section in half to make 8 boxes altogether. In each box, students will write about a significant event in the person’s life. They should be in chronological order. Students will also include a small picture in that box that shows the event. I draw small arrows to show which direction the timeline flows.
- TITLE- Students should write the title of the book (person studied) in large letters as one of the focal points of projects.
- ILLUSTRATION- Students will draw a portrait of their person in the center of the paper.
- CHARACTER TRAITS- Students will choose 3-4 words to describe their person and place it in a bubble map. They will write text evidence to support the trait on the outside of each bubble.
- PARAGRAPH- Students will write a paragraph about why this person is significant or important. They will use details from their book in their paragraph.
- QUOTE- Students will look for a quote that can be attributed to their person. If not found in the chapter book, they can do an online search. Write the quote in any empty space on the paper.
