Dear Chino Valley Unified School District family,

As we begin this week of February 4-8, 2019, designated National School Counselors Week, I want to take a moment to acknowledge our counselors for their commitment to our students. Counselors, thank you for your dedication and hard work. Your unique contributions are a key ingredient in the positive climates at our schools. Every single one of you will have lasting, positive impacts on our students lives.

By helping students explore their interests and abilities, our guidance counselors encourage students on the path to lifelong success in higher education as well as in making the right career choices. Our counselors identify community resources that can enhance and help students achieve more in college and become productive members of our working society.

Counselors don’t just aid with academic success, but with social and emotional growth as well. Often, when students are experiencing emotional challenges or behavioral issues, counselors are the first to intervene. Counselors are sensitive to the needs of our whole child, and by partnering with teachers, parents and administrators, focus on positive ways to enhance our youths' social and personal development.

I invite our parents, students, teachers and community member to join me in recognizing our counselors this week and letting them know that they are a fundamental component in our students reaching their full potential.

    Sincerely,

    Norm Enfield, Ed.D.

    Superintendent of Schools
