Assembly Bill 329: Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Education

Pursuant to the California Health Content Standards and the California Healthy Youth Act Assembly Bill 329, the Chino Valley Unified School District is offering Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Education through the 7th grade science course and the high school health course to provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop healthy attitudes and behaviors concerning their personal health. A parent/guardian has the right to excuse their student from the portion of the course pertaining to sexual health education and/or HIV/AIDS prevention education and to request, in writing, that their student not attend the sexual health education and HIV/AIDS prevention education portion of the course (Education Code 51938). A student shall not be subject to disciplinary action, academic penalty, or other sanction if the parent/guardian declines to permit the student to receive the instruction (Education Code 51939).
A parent/guardian has the right to inspect the related instructional materials. The instructional materials may be previewed at each respective school site.
