    Dear CVUSD family,

As we approach our Thanksgiving week break, I want to take a moment to reflect on all of the wonderful things that we are fortunate to have and express deep gratitude to all of our staff, students, families and community partners who make up Chino Valley Unified School District. It goes without saying that when it comes to academics, our District provides top notch 21st century education. But the focus of my gratitude this season is on the HEART of our school District--the intangibles that no one can truly calculate in grades or numbers.

Recently, the Superintendent Student Advisory Council launched “Got Kindness?”, their project for this school year. There is no more appropriate time than the present to spread kindness, friendship and care for each other. These students and their peers across the District are an example that all of us adults are fortunate to follow. I look forward to the activities districtwide that demonstrate that CVUSD does indeed have kindness! Thank you, students for your leadership.

Last week, 26 of our schools picked up their gold, silver and bronze medals from the State of California for their effective Positive Behavior Intervention Systems. Efforts across our District to implement alternative behavior intervention systems demonstrates our acknowledgement of the whole child, and that our nurturing the social and emotional growth of our youth is a very worthy investment in our future. Thank you, staff and administrators for your thoughtfulness.

This December, for the 17th year, 100 of our students will be the beneficiaries of holiday cheer and a shopping spree courtesy of the Chino Valley Fire District at the annual Make a Child Smile event. Our partnerships with organizations such as the Fire District are illustrative of how vast the village is that truly cares for our youth. Thank you, Chino Valley Fire District and all the Make a Child Smile sponsors for your generosity.

As you can see, the bounty that we celebrate this holiday season is the people who make up our CVUSD family. I wish you, your families and loved ones a loving and joyful Thanksgiving.

    Sincerely,

    Norm Enfield, Ed.D.

    Superintendent of Schools
