Dear CVUSD Community,
During it’s regular meeting held on February 3, 2022, the CVUSD Board of Education voted to approve Option E regarding new school start times for the 2022/2023 school year. The decision was made with consideration to parent, student, and staff input collected through a District survey that ran from January 14 to January 28, 2022.
In an effort to provide families with an opportunity to coordinate their drop-off and pick-up routines accordingly, I would like to share the new school start time schedule:
Elementary Schools: 7:50 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Junior High Schools: 9:12 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
High Schools: 8:35 a.m. – 3:22 p.m.
School principals will be providing their school community with letters that outline specific details for their campus, including early dismissal or late start schedules.
Schools not effected by the new start times, but will still be in compliance with state requirements, include Cal Aero Preserve Academy, Lyle S. Briggs K-8, and Buena Vista Continuation High School.
The newly selected school start times adhere to Senate Bill (SB) 328 which was signed into law October 2019. SB 328 mandates junior high schools begin class no earlier than 8:00 a.m., and high schools begin class no earlier than 8:30 a.m. While SB 328 does not address specific start time requirements for elementary schools, start times for students TK through 6th grade have been revised to ensure districtwide transportation remains available to all CVUSD students.
Thank you for your partnership in selecting new school start times. The new bell schedule will take effect July 1, 2022, for the 2022/2023 school year.
Sincerely,
Norm Enfield, Ed.D.
