  • The Board of Education recognizes that suicide is a leading cause of death among youth and that school personnel who regularly interact with students are often in a position to recognize the warning signs of suicide and to offer appropriate referral and/or assistance. In an effort to reduce suicidal behavior and its impact on students and families, the Superintendent or designee shall develop measures and strategies for suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Forum - September 9, 2024

  • The District provides two annual Suicide Prevention Awareness trainings for parents, guardians, and community members where they discuss how to recognize signs of suicide and actions to take to keep our youth safe. Sessions are led by Dr. Dianne Vargas, an Assistant Professor of School Counseling at California State University, Stanislaus. 

    Provided below is a link to the handout provided to participants who attended the Suicide Prevention Awareness Forum in the Chino Hills High School MPR on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. The PowerPoint presentation presented by Dr. Vargas during the session is also available for reference.
