Food Technology Elective class (Grades 9-12)
• Introduction to culinary cleaning, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
• Food sensory assessment, evaluation of an individual's diet, food regulations by government and agencies, food trends, and job and career exploration.
Culinary Arts 1(Grades 10-12)
• Build cooking skills.
• Learn knife-cutting skills.
• Knowledge of professional kitchen equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation.
• Learn culinary vocabulary, food production, and hands-on skills in the kitchen.
Culinary Arts 2 (Grades 11-12)
• Learn cooking and baking skills.
• Learn business management skills.
• Students obtain their food handlers' certificate.
• Students manage and organize catering events.This course is designed for students interested in careers in the culinary, hospitality, and recreation industries. The Culinary Arts curriculum prepares students to be career-ready and apply their skills in a high-demand job market. Students learn fundamental food preparation, culinary terminology, concepts, kitchen and dining food sanitation equipment maintenance, and operations procedures. This course also provides an overview of professionalism in the culinary industry and the opportunity to explore career opportunities. Obtaining a Food Handlers permit will be required.
