Distance Teaching and Learning Classroom Expectations
General Expectations
· Students should not share their login information, meeting links, or passwords with others.
· To the extent possible, students should participate in virtual instruction from a quiet and neutral area that is free of distractions.
· School and classroom rules apply to the virtual instruction environment.
· It is recommended that students review the District Technology Acceptable/ Responsible Use Policy regarding expectations for behavior while conducting themselves online and on District devices. [Click here to Review the CVUSD Responsible Use Policy.]
· Students should dress appropriately for virtual instruction sessions.
· Students who use inappropriate language, share inappropriate images, or in any way behave inappropriately on a video conference will be subject to appropriate discipline.
· Students should not conduct audio or video recordings or take screen shots of virtual class meetings or activities unless they have received prior permission to do so from a teacher or authorized District official.
· To the extent possible, parents should allow the student to work with the instructor or provider in a quiet, private space. However, to the extent a student requires adult support to participate in virtual instruction/services, a parent or guardian may be specifically asked by the instructor or service provider to provide such support.
· Once the virtual instruction session or meeting is over, students should be sure to close out of the meeting platform entirely. Students should also ensure that cameras are covered and that microphones are turned off to avoid inadvertent transmission following the meeting.
Virtual Meetings
Please sign into the class Google Meets a minute or two before class starts. We will begin promptly at the start of the period. After the first week, late logins will count as tardies.
Please turn on your video and mute yourself at the beginning of class. I would like you to keep the video on for the duration of the period--both during synchronous and asynchronous time (lesson time and work time).
Links to Google Meets can be found on the Google Class page. The link is specific to each period. This will be the link we use during Distance Learning. It will not change.
If you are absent from a class, then Edmodo is going to be your best bet to find out what you missed. All the information will be there. If you have questions then email me, send me a message on Edmodo, or join me for office hours on Tue-Fri. See schedule above.
Student expectations
Student Expectations are vailable on Edmodo and will be given to each student at the beginning of the year. Acknowledgment of the expectations by parent and student will happen via a signed agreement that will be given the first week of school.
Assignments
For the most part, assignments will be posted on Edmodo and turned in via Google Classroom. Tests may be on other platforms such as LaunchPad, GoFormative, etc.
I will be using Google Meets for classroom time as well as office hours. There is a different link for office hours than your classroom link.
In Classlinks, you will need Google Meets and Google CLassroom for the classroom. We may use other applications as the year goes on.
Assessments
Assessments will be assigned via Edmodo and appropriate links to online assessment tools will be provoded there. These can include LaunchPad, Edmodo, Quizlet, GoFormative, or Google Classroom.
Feedback
Students will get feedback on submited work (e.g. comments in Google Classroom, Edmodo posts, and/or in AERIES--via grades) Feedback time will be a week or less.
Assignments completed in LaunchPad may have instantaneous feedback. All other work submitted will have feedback provided by the teacher.
