  • My name is Andrew Lyon, and I am the Founding Dean of Chapman University’s newest school, the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering. Our Admission team informed me that you have some great students who are interested in engineering, so I wanted to share some helpful information.

Most important are details on multiple scholarship opportunities for first-year applicants. When combined with Chapman’s financial aid package, these awards could cover up to the full cost of all tuition and fees:

    • Fowler Engineering Scholarships are for students who are underrepresented in the engineering field, and will be awarded to applicants with a demonstrated financial need.
    • Industry scholarships support students whose interests and academic work are in certain disciplines. This work can include an internship with one of our corporate partners and/or a Grand Challenges Initiative project that aligns with a partner’s mission.

These awards can be renewed for the four years your student will be at Chapman. All first-year applicants will be considered for scholarships, including international and DACA/AB540 students. You can learn more about the awards on our website.

What we are doing at Fowler Engineering is building a school from the ground up – literally. This includes a brand new engineering wing (set to open in fall 2021) in our Keck Center for Science in Engineering, as well as a curriculum that challenges students to work in teams, think like entrepreneurs and focus on solving real-world problems.

You can learn more about the school in our Fowler School of Engineering flyer (it would be great if you could share this with students to help us promote these opportunities). You or your students could also learn more about Fowler Engineering at Discover Chapman Day, where faculty, students and I will be there to show the facilities and answer any questions.

We may also be available to meet with you and your interested engineering students. Feel free to email me at engineering@chapman.edu to see if we can set up a visit.

Thank you for working with all of us here at Chapman and helping your students prepare for future success.

    Regards,

    L. Andrew Lyon
