  • COURSE DESCRIPTION

    Digital Imaging is  designed to give students a broad overview of the use of graphics and their impact on society.  Students will learn to identify visual elements and principles of design using the language of the visual arts, and apply them to visual technology.  Students will be taught how to manipulate digital graphics and how to create and use original digital art for commercial purposes. This course is aligned to the CTE standards with an emphasis on the Media Support & Services Pathway.

    COURSE GOALS

    Students will gain a basic familiarity and understanding of ways to create professional Quality projects in the print and visual media. 

    STUDENT OUTCOMES

    Upon successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate the ability to:

    1.   Create and enhance Digital images with Adobe Photoshop.

    2.   Create digital graphic art with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash.

    3.   Know basic Desktop Publishing techniques used in the marketing
          industry.

    4.   Know basic design principles

    GRADING CRITERIA

    Grading is primarily determined by the quality of performance that a student is able to accomplish based on required criteria and elements for each project.

    ASSESSMENT

    Assessment is provided through activities, knowledge and demonstration of application mastery, portfolio assessment via an electronic collection of documents, and projects. (70% Projects/Performance/Portfolio and 30% Classwork)
