Blue block with the words Walnut Avenue Elementary Parking and Entrance Information 2017-18
Aerial map of Walnut Avenue Elementary
  • Here is a photo of Walnut Elementary.  Our main entrance is located on Walnut Avenue.  When you enter the parking lot you will see 2 lanes.  The inside lane is for dropping off or picking up students.  We ask that you pull up as far as you can to help cars from blocking Walnut Avenue.  The outside lane is for those looking for a parking spot.  However, there is no stopping in this lane and we ask everyone to keep this lane moving as quickly as possible.  The #2 symbols designate neighborhood streets -- Jacaranda and Catalpa -- that are available for parking.  Vernon Avenue is becoming a two-way street and there will no longer be parking available on Vernon.  The red no parking symbol is due to staff parking that is reserved for CVUSD employees or permitted guests.  Finally, our biggest change is that our North parking has been removed and will be a BUS LANE ONLY.  We have increased the amount of buses to our school and this decision will allow us to keep a flow of traffic and most importantly maintain the safety of our students.

  • The #1 symbol indicates the main entrance for Walnut Elementary.  This is where the majority of students enter and are dismissed.  At symbol #2, we have directed that on regular school days, Morning TK and Kindergarten be dismissed from the end of the parking lot in front of our bike rack at 11:35 a.m.  We ask that parents follow parking lot rules for the inside lane by waiting for teachers to direct their child to their parents’ vehicle in a safe manner.  The red symbol indicates that there is no entrance through our staff parking lot.  The orange symbol indicates that our North Gate entrance will only be open to our students arriving by school bus and/or those with special needs that have been communicated with the school.  Thank you again for taking the time to learn about our changes, and please understand that all changes were made with safety in mind.
