New instruments helping students make music

  • The addition of 42 musical instruments to Chino Valley Unified School District’s elementary and junior high program will make it easier to loan instruments to students who cannot afford to rent or purchase their own, according to District music teachers.

Last spring, instruments worth more than $35,700 were purchased, including six clarinets, four bass clarinets, 12 alto saxes, six trumpets, two double French horns, 22 percussion bell kits, and six upright euphoniums. The purchase also included cases for the instruments.

Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) funding was used to purchase the new musical equipment, which was part of Chino Valley Unified’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) to help low-income, English Learner, and foster youth students.
