Service clubs recognized for helping students, staff members, district

  • Nine local service clubs were recognized at the Dec. 14 Chino Valley Unified School District Board of Education meeting their aid to students, staff members and the District.

    Receiving proclamations from the Board of Education were: American Legion Post 299, Chino Rotary, Chino Valley Lions Club, Kiwanis Club of Chino, Kiwanis Club of Chino Hills, Rancho del Chino Rotary, Rotary Club of Greater Chino Hills, Soroptimist International of Chino Hills/Inland Empire, and Soroptimist International of the Chino Valley, Inc.

    Among the services provided by these groups are monetary donations to school programs; teacher mini-grants; speech, music, and essay contests; student awards; programs for girls and boys transitioning from sixth grade to junior high school; scholarships; musical instruments; band equipment; providing service clubs for youth; sponsorship of Chino Junior Fair projects; support to school clubs; Boys and Girls State conferences that give high school students the opportunity to learn about state government; shade trees for Chino High; and service on Chino Valley Unified School District committees.
