DEADLINE EXTENDED TO NOON MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2018 -- Applications being accepted for Golf Tournament and Gretchen McCombs Memorial scholarships

Seniors in Chino Valley Unified School District’s Class of 2018 are invited to complete an application for one of four scholarships available through the District.
Funds for three of the scholarships will come from the 9th annual “Hit the Greens for Scholarships” Golf Tournament, which was held March 9. The event was hosted by School Portraits by Adams Photography, Inc. of Chino and Chino Hills. To date, more than $221,000 has been awarded to 192 seniors through the “Hit the Greens for Scholarships” Golf Tournament.
The fourth scholarship is funded by the McCombs Family Foundation in memory of Gretchen McCombs, who taught at Chino Valley area schools and was an ardent supporter of the arts.
The scholarships recognize important aspects of a student’s educational career and will be awarded to students at each of the following Chino Valley Unified School District high schools: Ayala, Buena Vista, Chino, Chino Hills, and Don Lugo.
The scholarships are:
- Spirit of the Chino Valley Unified School District (Golf Tournament funded)
Awarded to a student who has volunteered at school or in the community, has embodied school spirit by serving in a student leadership role, has participated in school activities that promote good citizenship, and has an outstanding attendance record.
- President’s Award (Golf Tournament funded)
Awarded to a student in need of financial assistance to continue their education.
- Superintendent’s Award (Golf Tournament funded)
Awarded to a student who has embraces academic rigor and excelled by earning an overall grade point average of 3.8 or higher.
- Gretchen McCombs Memorial Scholarship (funded by the McCombs Family Foundation)
Awarded to a student who has shown dedication to and passion for visual or performing arts in school or through extracurricular endeavors.
NEW DEADLINE: Applications are due noon Monday, April 9, 2018 to principal’s office. Do not take applications to the District Office.
