Chino Hills High School student wins CIF Spirit of Sport Award

  • Chino Hills High senior Michael Rosales has been named a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Spirit of Sport Award winner for the Southern Section of the federation.

The award recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated the 16 principles of Pursing Victory with Honor, are active in school and community service, and exhibit leadership qualities. The principles of Pursuing Victory with Honor are the operating principals of the CIF and have been adopted by the 1,587-member high schools throughout the state.

Michael, who was nominated by head football coach Chris Stevens, received a decorated plaque from CIF Southern Section, along with a $500 check.

He is one of two Southern Section winners. The other is Samantha James, a volleyball player from Marshall Fundamental Secondary School in Pasadena.

Michael is a dual sport athlete, playing football and baseball. He has also achieved more than a 3.0 grade point average for each semester in high school.
