Dickey Elementary School’s logo has new look

  • Levi Dickey Elementary School in Ontario has a new logo thanks to Chino High School’s National Art Honor Society students and their advisor.

The new logo combines Dickey’s eagle mascot and the school’s participation in the No Excuses University program that emphasizes that every student has the right to be educated in a way that prepares them for college.

Dickey Principal Dr. Patricia Custodio reached out to Chino High art teacher Dan Cahill last spring, to see if his students in the school’s National Art Honor Society might be interested in drawing a few logo designs that could be voted on by Dickey stakeholders. Dr. Custodio said a common request for the design was combining the eagle mascot with the No Excuses University logo.

The Chino High students created a couple of designs that were voted on by Dickey students, staff members, and parents. The school’s original logo was also included in the voting, but the new logo won.

Chino High’s National Art Honor Society students offered to paint the new logo on a large board that could be mounted at the school. Dickey’s Parent Teacher Organization paid for the supplies needed to create that.

Dr. Custodio said the school plans to have a ceremony to dedicate the new logo.
