  • Counseling Updates

    FAFSA grad tickets: Due to the extension of FAFSA deadline for the state of California, we are allowing those that completed FAFSA after 4/2/24 to qualify for the 2 free graduation tickets. Check Senior Google Classroom for updated list of student IDs that will be receiving tickets. If both student and parent/contributor have completed the FAFSA and your student ID is not listed: please check Senior Google Classroom ASAP for more details and further instructions regarding dropping off confirmations (turn in by 4/30). 

    Class Scheduling: Counselors are still in the process of meeting with students to confirm course selection for 2024-2025 school year. Unfortunately, counselors will not be able to take any additional meetings with parents/students outside of Class Scheduling dates to discuss individual classes. Parents, please discuss scheduling with your student beforehand; should any questions arise, counselors can advise students during Class Scheduling.
    • Sophomore Class Scheduling: February 20-22
    • Freshmen Class Scheduling: March 5-7
    • If your student did not complete Academic Plan, please review course options and select 6 classes (+backup electives) prior to Class Scheduling.
    • If your student is absent or unable to meet during class scheduling, counselors will be calling out students for make-ups
    AP Contract Forms & 2024-2025 Schedule Changes : Deadline 3/22/24 (before Spring Break).
    • AP Contract Forms are due back to counseling office on 3/22/24 (before Spring Break). If you need a form, you can pick one up in the Counseling office.
    • Any changes to student’s 2024-2025 schedule (AFTER individual Class Scheduling Date) will need to be made before 3/22/24 (before Spring Break). No further changes will be accepted after this date. Students: please see your counselor at lunch or after-school. Please do not request changes if you have not yet met during Class Scheduling Days.
    Summer School: Students can sign up and get information when they meet with counselors during Class Scheduling. Deadline 4/12/24.
    • Traditional Summer School: If your student received a D or F, traditional summer school on campus is available to remediate classes. Please see attached flyer for courses offered and session dates. Students: please see your counselor at lunch or after-school to register before 4/12/24.
    • Any student who plans to take summer school outside of the district will need to get approval from counselor and administration (Alternative Credits Form). Students can pick up forms when they meet with counselors during scheduling. Deadline to submit Alternative Credits Form will be 4/12/24. No exceptions. Counselor & admin approval for summer school only applies to current CHHS students. Any incoming student (not a current CHHS student) will need to seek approval from their own school/counselor. 
    Upcoming Dates:
    • February 20-22, 2024: Sophomore Class Scheduling
    • March 5-7, 2024: Freshmen Class Scheduling
    • March 22: Deadline for AP Contracts & any 2024-2025 schedule changes. No exceptions.
    • April 12: Deadline for Summer School (traditional SS registration & Alternative Credits Form turn in). No exceptions.

  • January 2024 Announcements
    • Counselors will be meeting with Juniors in their history classes 1/22- 1/26 to confirm class selection for 2024-2025 school year. Courses should have already been selected on Academic Plan for review. If you did not do so, please review course options and come prepared (https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/Page/47587 ). Changes to Academic Plan can only be made by counselors at this time. Any changes requested after student's meeting with counselor this week are not guaranteed.

    • Calling all Juniors! Girls State & Boy's and Girl's State Resumes are due on Monday, 1/22/24, to Mrs. Arrington in the Counseling office by 3:30pm. As a reminder, this is for students interested in civic service who would like the opportunity, if selected, to spend a week this summer experiencing our state legislature.     • Mark your Calendars! AP Night will be on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 6:00-7:00pm
    • Math & English Zero Period Intervention has resumed for the semester. If your student needs extra support, teachers will be available every Tuesday & Thursday morning from 7:40am-8:20am. See attached flyer for room assignments. For more tutoring options, please click here.
    • If there is an error in your schedule (missing a class or duplicate class), the last day to request a change from counselors via Request for Support will be on Wednesday 1/10/24.
    • Counselors will be giving Junior Presentations regarding classes for 24-25 school year on Wednesday 1/10/24 during U.S. History class.

    November 2023 Announcements
    - College Application Workshops (November 6th-30th):  Seniors: Got questions about your college applications?  Counselors will be available in the Career Center (Rm. 172) on Monday's/Wednesday's at lunch & Tuesday's/Thursday's after-school.
    -Seniors, don't forget to give your teachers/counselor at least 3-weeks notice if you need a letter of rec. Letter of Rec form found here.  
    -  Wednesday, 11/8/23: Sophomore Parent/Student Counseling Night (library at 6:00pm). Please join counselors as they go over what your sophomore needs to succeed in high school!
    - Wednesday, 11/15/23: College Information Night (library at 6:00pm). Information will be provided on college opportunities for students with GPAs between 2.0-3.0.
    - Wednesday 11/15: Mt. SAC Application Workshop ( 1st and 2nd Period) 8:35-10:40a.m. Please see Career Center page for more information.
