What is PLUSS?

  • For more than 12 years, CHHS has offered the Positive Learning Using Study Skills program. The PLUSS program is a by-invitation opportunity for 9th and 10th grade students. The PLUSS program is unique because it places the students in smaller sized classes for English and Math to give the students a more individualized classroom experience. Students are provided with small group learning, multiple opportunities to check for understanding, and most importantly, a second chance to get back on track academically. In addition, PLUSS students are placed in a Study Skills class as their elective. Study Skills provides student activities focused on intrinsic motivation, teacher-led organizational skill building, and the opportunity to do their homework with all classroom resources available.

The CHHS PLUSS program boasts an 84% success rate, meaning 84% of our current PLUSS students have improved their GPA so much that they no longer require the additional support offered in the program once an academic school year has been completed.

Our goal at Chino Hills High School is to provide every student with the opportunity to be successful, and we believe that the PLUSS program is beneficial for the 25 9th graders and 25 10th graders that are accepted.

PLUSS Criteria for Admittance
