March 12, 2020
Dear CVUSD Community,
We are continually monitoring and evaluating our practices to ensure the safety of our children and staff. Based on up-to-date information from our health officials, including the California Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and county departments of health and education agencies, I have issued new directives to CVUSD schools regarding field trips and activities.
On March 11, 2020, Governor Newsom and the California Department of Public Health issued a new recommendation to cancel or postpose mass gatherings to slow down the spread of COVID-19. As such, effective immediately and until further notice, all field trips, activities, and large events planned by our schools are cancelled or postponed. Although the guidance advises the cancellation or postponement of events with more than 250 people, events with less than 250 people may be cancelled if participants are not able to achieve the recommended 6 feet of space between individuals.
For a list of events that are cancelled or postponed, contact your children's school directly.
The Public Health Department has not recommended closing schools within San Bernardino County at this time. The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain a top priority in dealing with the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to provide further updates as they become available.
Sincerely,
Norm Enfield, Ed.D.
Superintendent
