    Dear CVUSD Families and Staff,

On Monday, December 21, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shortened the recommended isolation period for people who have tested positive for COVID-19, have been identified as a close contact, or are experiencing COVID-related symptoms. At this time, per the direction of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) K-12 School Guidance, the recommendation does not apply to K-12 schools and the isolation protocol will remain at 10 days.

As students and staff return from winter break and our community continues to manage the impact COVID-19 is having on our region, we’d like to remind families to screen their children at home each morning prior to arriving on campus. If a student is ill while at school and presents at least one high risk symptom, or two or more low risk symptoms for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, the student will be separated from other students and staff while waiting for a parent/guardian to arrive for pick up. To read the full letter on how to complete morning screenings, identify COVID-related symptoms, and guidelines for returning to school after presenting at least one COVID-related symptom, please visit the Health Services Department webpage at https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/Page/21678.

Over the weekend, Superintendent Enfield shared that the CDPH is providing at-home COVID-19 test kits to the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS) to distribute to Chino Valley USD and neighboring school districts within the county. These optional at-home test kits will be provided to all CVUSD students and can be used as an additional layer of protection by testing students at home, when necessary, to confirm the presence of the virus. Distribution dates and locations will be made available as soon as possible. Families and community members may also continue to visit testing facilities provided in partnership with the district. For flyers and information regarding these testing sites, please visit https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/Page/48603.

As always, we remain committed to sharing all changes and updates to local COVID-19 guidance as information is made available. Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we provide a safe and healthy environment for our students, staff, and community.

    Sincerely,
    CVUSD Health Services Department
