    UPDATE TO THE CVUSD COMMUNITY REGARDING 
    NEXT STEPS DURING SCHOOL CLOSURES DUE TO
    NOVEL CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

    Dear CVUSD Parents and Guardians:

    As you are aware, today, March 16, 2020 is the first day of our student dismissals due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, our schools are scheduled to be closed to students until Friday, April 3, 2020. CVUSD will monitor the COVID-19 situation and notify students and families within in the next couple of weeks if school closures will continue beyond April 3, 2020.

    This letter will give you as much information as possible in order to let you know how to move forward and what steps to take. If this letter does not answer all of your questions, contact information is listed throughout. In any event, we will always keep you updated with timely information either directly via Aeries Communications email, text or phone message; on our District website; or on our district social media channels.

    CLOSURE SCHEDULE

    March 16-March 19:​ Extended Spring Break. 
    March 20-March 27:​ Spring Break. 
    March 30-April 3:​​ Schools closed to students. Distance Learning/Education begins.

    There are a few things to consider for our students while CVUSD schools are closed:

    DISTANCE LEARNING/EDUCATION:

    It is our mission to continue educating our students even though they are not physically attending classes. This education will take place through online Extended Learning Plans and Distance Learning Classrooms that can be accessed online. Students/Parents and Families should check their teachers' classroom web page located on the school website under the "Classroom" menu tab daily.

    Extended Learning Plans and Distance Learning Classrooms will be available beginning March 30, 2020. The Extended Learning Plans and Distance Learning Classrooms can also be accessed through the home page of the District website.

    TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT:

    Please be assured that families who do not have access to the technology required to support the Extended Learning Plans and Distance Learning Classrooms will be supported. To request technology equipment, fill out the CVUSD Technology Checkout Form HERE as soon as possible.

    Technology equipment provided by CVUSD will be filtered in compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and will only include access to sites required to support distance learning. Only websites and resources categorized as being required for educational use will be allowed. CVUSD Technology equipment will not allow access to things such as online gaming, downloading of movies, inappropriate adult content etc., and will only be able to access online educational tools.

    Technology equipment will be distributed as follows:

    Wednesday, March 25 – Thursday, March 26, 2020:

    Pick up will be between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the District Office Board Room, 5130 Riverside Drive, Chino; OR

    Monday, March 30 – April 1, 2020:

    Pick up will be between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at your child’s school site location.

    More detailed instructions regarding technology equipment pick up and distribution will be provided to you once you fill out the required form. Please understand that you must fill out the CVUSD Technology Checkout Form before picking up to ensure that there will be technology equipment ready for you when you arrive.

    MEAL SERVICE FOR STUDENTS:

    Meal service will continue for students throughout the duration of school closures, except during our regularly scheduled Spring Break of March 20-27, 2020.

    Monday, March 16 – Thursday, March 19, 2020:

    Nutritious Grab-and-Go lunches will be available to CVUSD students at the CVUSD Adult Education campus located at 12970 3rd St, Chino. Grab-and-Go lunches will be available curbside at this location between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Look for the Nutrition Services canopy located on the southeast corner. Students must be present for food pick up.

    Monday, March 30 – Friday, April 3, 2020:

    Nutritious Grab-and-Go meals will be available for curbside pick-up at all CVUSD school site locations. Grab-and-Go breakfasts will be available between 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. and lunches will be available between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at every location. Students must be present for food pick up. If you have any questions regarding service times or locations, please contact the Nutrition Services Department at (909) 628-1201 x1500.

    STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS:

    I want to remind everyone that according my directive last week and consistent with federal, state and local mandates and guidelines, all student field trips, activities and sports will be cancelled throughout the duration of school closures.
