UPDATE TO THE CVUSD COMMUNITY REGARDING
AT-HOME SCREENINGS, FACE COVERING REQUIREMENTS & EXEMPTION APPLICATION
SEPTEMBER 10, 2021Dear CVUSD Parents and Guardians:
As we head into the weekend, I would like to echo the importance of following safety protocols established to minimize risks to our students, staff, and families amid the COVID-19 pandemic. I would also like to share community resources for testing and available options should your student be asked to self-isolate or quarantine.
AT-HOME HEALTH SCREENINGS
Overall, our students and families have done an outstanding job with wearing face coverings while indoors, practicing proper hand hygiene, and following layered strategies in place to decrease viral transmission. While we continue to work together to support a healthy routine that mitigates positive COVID-19 cases, we must remain vigilant as variants of the virus spread among our population. To that end, please continue to screen your student at home each morning prior to arriving on campus. If your student begins to experience at least one high risk symptom, or two or more low risk symptoms, related to COVID-19, please keep your student at home, consult a healthcare provider, and notify the school office.
Our hardworking Health Services Department has provided a letter outlining common COVID-19 symptoms to screen for that can be found on the District website at https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/Page/21678.
COVID-19 TESTING
Should your student exhibit COVID-19 symptoms or be identified as a first contact according to San Bernardino County Department of Public Health (SBCDPH) contact tracing guidelines, we would like to encourage you to utilize local testing resources to confirm your student’s health status. Available testing locations can be located using the San Bernardino County website at https://sbcovid19.com/testing-sites/.
SHORT-TERM INDEPENDENT STUDY
CVUSD staff understands the importance of limiting disruptions to student learning during this challenging time. Therefore, when a student tests positive for COVID-19, is determined to be a first contact, or exhibits COVID-19 symptoms, and is asked to isolate or quarantine at home for 3 to 14 days, the student’s parent or guardian may request Short-Term Independent Study (STIS) for their student. For questions regarding STIS, parents and guardians are welcomed to connect with their student’s school site.
Thank you to the entire CVUSD school community for its efforts in keeping our schools open and our students on campus for in-person instruction. Rest assured, the health, safety, and well-being of CVUSD students, staff, and community remains our top priority. We will continue to adhere to governing protocols and guidance to ensure we do what we can to protect everyone within the district.
Sincerely,
Norm Enfield, Ed.D.
Superintendent
