• UPDATE TO THE CVUSD COMMUNITY - 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR SURVEY
    July 8,2020

    Dear CVUSD Parents and Guardians,

Yesterday afternoon the Chino Valley Unified School District Board of Education held a second study session reviewing options for reopening of the 2020-2021 school year. If you were not able to view the study session live, the video can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0nbImzL7Cw

Pending Board approval, CVUSD has determined that all CVUSD standard track schools will open as scheduled on August 10, 2020 with a Blended Learning instruction model, with the intent to move toward Traditional Instruction when safe.

Pending Board approval, Cal Aero Preserve Academy Tracks A and B will transition to a Blended Learning instruction model on August 3, 2020. Cal Aero Preserve Academy Track D will begin their school year on August 3, 2020 with a Blended Learning instruction model. Cal Aero Preserve Academy Track C will be going off track at the end of July but will resume on a Blended Learning instruction model.

As an alternative to the Blended Learning instruction model, CVUSD will offer a Distance Learning instruction model pursuant to Senate Bill 98, for students who are medically fragile or would be put at risk by in person instruction.

All decisions on school reopening is the result of detailed analysis and planning on how to best provide our students a 21st century education and serious consideration of prevailing public health orders and recommendations on providing a safe and healthy learning environment,

The following are descriptions of Blended Learning and Distance Learning:

    Blended Learning

    • Classroom Instruction [In seat, at school]
    • Students will be divided into Cohort A or B. Cohorts will attend school in a classroom setting and complete work on alternating days.
    • This may be enhanced with online, virtual learning.

    Distance Learning

    • Students participate in structured, full time, online or virtual instruction and learning with a class.
    • Grades TK-6: Students may not have a teacher from their home school.
    • Grades 7-12: Students may not be able to participate in all the courses that are offered at a traditional junior high or high school. [e.g. Band, Leadership, CTE/ROP courses, Athletic PE, some AP courses]

The CVUSD school reopening plan took into consideration the guidance and recommendations provided by our national, state and local public health officials and will incorporate appropriate safeguards that adhere to the prevailing health orders from the San Bernardino County Public Health Department.

In order to best meet staffing needs for the 2020-2021 school year, we are asking all parents to complete a choice confirmation survey on the options outlined above.

The survey for all CVUSD standard track schools can be accessed here: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/2V1kMO

The survey for Cal Aero Preserve Academy can be accessed here: https://survey.k12insight.com/r/rC2Rcj

Surveys can also be accessed from the home page of your school’s website and on the home page of the CVUSD District website here: https://www.chino.k12.ca.us/

If you are choosing Distance Learning as an alternative option, you must complete an application that is embedded in the survey. Confirmation of family choice will be sent to the student’s residence before the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.

Your response to the survey is needed by July 14, 2020 at 5 p.m.

Our commitment to a successful 2020-2021 school year for our students is unwavering. As always, thank you for your partnership and participation in this important survey. We will continue to keep you updated with information as the school year approaches.

    Sincerely,
    Norm Enfield, Ed.D.
